We've Got Answers.
Some questions we hear a lot. So much so that we decided to provide some answers.
What is Redpoint?
Is Redpoint part of The University of South Carolina?
Redpoint is a privately owned and professionally managed community. Click here for more information about the management and ownership.
Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?
You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
What are per-person contracts?
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Redpoint has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.
What is included in the rate?
Each resident at Redpoint pays a monthly rental installment with a flat utility/amenity fee that includes:
- A full set of furniture
- High-speed Internet in each bedroom, speeds up to 1 Gigabit
- Unlimited electricity and water
- Trash removal, lawn service
- Washer and dryer in each apartment
- On-site management
- Community features — pool, fitness center, sports, etc.
- Free private shuttle bus service to campus
What size are the homes?
The exceptionally large apartments and townhomes at Redpoint range from 1,200 to 1,900 square feet in size.
Are the homes furnished?
All of the homes at Redpoint include a furniture package including a full-size bed, dresser, desk and chair in each bedroom, a leather-style sofa and lounge chair, end table, coffee table and entertainment stand, plus both a dining set and counter stools. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model apartments.
When do the contracts start and end?
The standard term is August 16, 2024 to July 22, 2025, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Other alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.
Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?
Each resident must pay an administrative fee within 7 days after signing the Housing Agreement. This fee is reduced significantly if the resident provides a qualifying guarantor (often a parent) for their financial obligations under Housing Agreement.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Redpoint also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Will my financial aid cover charges at Redpoint?
Your living costs at Redpoint can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Redpoint. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Is Redpoint open to non-students?
Redpoint is designed and offered for students at the University of South Carolina and other local colleges. The per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. Therefore, applications are accepted only from students at one of these local colleges or universities. Redpoint is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes student residents/families with children. There is no extra cost for minor children in the care of adult residents, other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. A minor occupying a bedroom space rented by a parent, guardian or person with legal custody is not considered a breach of the Housing Agreement or a violation of the rules. In order to match student roommates in shared apartments, we will request roommate consent for any non-student occupants.
What kind of safety and security are provided?
Redpoint has monitored fire sprinklers, electronic locks and deadbolts on each front door, plus individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?
Redpoint is pet-friendly in select buildings, with required registration, deposit and fee, and subject to limits on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor and adjacent areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of apartment-mates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.
Can I park my vehicle at Redpoint?
Redpoint offers free surface parking for all residents. Limited guest parking is also available at no charge.
Can I see a model apartment?
